Hi, my name is Marilyn Wolter. My mother taught me how to sew as a young child around 10 years old. But she had me sewing by hand and doing cross stitch around 4-5 years of age. By age 13 I was sewing huge teddy bears. By age 14 I was making all of my own dresses, skirts and shirts. When I was a senior in high school, I took a fashion apparel class every afternoon and made a double breasted lined coat with bound button holes. I also had made several quilts by then.
In 2002 I was told that if I made something fleece, that I could help a lady at craft shows. I decided little baby jackets and car seat carrier covers would be my thing. People seemed to like them. And in 2002 I was in my first Holly House Boutique! Then people started contacting me to ask if I could sew this or that.
My biggest challenge was when I was asked to make a coat that would last for multiple years. I didn't even know how to make a pattern. I met the challenge and started drawing a pattern for the “grow with me” coat. My next challenge was to convince people that this coat would fit for multiple years. But once they tried it on all their little kids, they were believers. My grow with me coats and ponchos have special features...one of them is the non gaping hood. Another of my trademarks are the way the fronts of the jackets match with the design.
If you wonder what I am usually doing...it is sewing. I have a huge collection of fleece and minky and I love to sew and know that all the kids are safe and happy in their light weight fleece options!! Thanks for choosing one of my fleece creations!
