What do you make?
Wood home decor, enhanced by Lichtenberg figures (randomly burned fractals, using high voltage).
How did you get started? Who inspired you?
Late night YouTube surfing - 12,000 volts of electricity, what could go wrong? We've been doing this a little over 2 years. It looked interesting and it was something we wanted to try.
What is your favorite part of what you do?
Several parts - figuring out what decor item to make that this process would enhance is one. But most of all, once we're done burning, cleaning the soot and ash off to reveal the delicate frills!
What is the least favorite part of your maker process?
As the saying goes, there's 10 minutes of fun, followed by at least an hour or more of bleaching, sanding, finishing and waxing each item.
What is a day in the life of making like for you?
During the burning process, we have limited control of where the Lichtenberg figures appear, making each piece a unique, one of a kind item. Each handmade item is prepped for burning. Once burned, the item is scrubbed clean, then bleached back to it's original color, then sanded and later finished. We start the day fresh as a daisy and end the day smelling like a wet campfire!
What do you enjoy doing when you are not busy making?
Travel, reading, walking
