Edible garden art
Name and Location:
Jule & Rick Rentz, Waconia, MN
What do you make?
Edible Garden Art. Solid Golden Safflower seed wild song bird feeders.
How did you get started? Who inspired you?
Jules Loft began with a gentle nudge from a friend with cancer. Jules showed up with Easter baskets filled with seed feeders for Judi's songbird loving grandchildren. The company bloomed from there in 2011…
What is your favorite part of what you do?
I cherish the solitude working at home. Side by side with my husband Rick.
I love meeting and interacting with makers and customers through out the year.
What is the least favorite part of your maker process?
Crunch time during the holidays!
What is a day in your life?
Combining objects found in nature & organic Golden Safflower seed, we create solid artistic wild song bird feeders. The process takes 4-6 days: Mixed in small batches by hand. Heat, hand cast, freeze, & dry is how the main "body” is formed. All sticks are harvested up north MN. by a 24 year old Amish girl on private land & cut to length. Hand packed and labeled in gift ready, earth friendly boxes.
What do you enjoy doing when you are not busy making?
Walking, hiking, boating, travel and snuggling up with a good book.
