Name and Location:
Food for His Children was started in Burnsville, MN and is now located in Forest Lake, MN.
What do you make?
Food for His Children sells goat milk soap.
How did you get started? Who inspired you?
We sell goat milk soap as a fundraiser so we can help families living in extreme poverty break the chains of poverty and offer a brighter future for their children. We've been providing dairy goats and training to families in rural Tanzania since 2008. We are inspired every single day by the families we serve and their hearts to give their children a better life.
What is your favorite part of what you do?
We love walking alongside people who live in extreme poverty but are working hard to make a better life, encouraging and equipping them to be the person they were created to be, and using those gifts for the good of their family and their community.
What is a day in your life like?
Food for His Children staff and volunteers travel on rough dirt paths to the very remote villages to meet with families living in mud and stick homes with no running water or electricity. We sit with them in their homes, share stories about life and walk them through their struggles and celebrate their successes. We give G.O.A.T.- The gift of a goat and the Gospel, opportunities to share what they have been given by giving a goat to another family, accountability to achieve their stated dreams and we watch the transformation. Our goal is for them to reach their goals which are usually to provide food, clothing, medical care and an education beyond 7th grade for their children. It all begins with a dairy goat.
What do you enjoy doing when you are not busy making?
We love to spend time with the families we serve and holding goats!
